Welcome To The World Of The Wheelmen!
Assuming you have read the "About Us" section already, you know that The Wheelmen is a not-for-profit family oriented organization dedicated to the preservation of our cycling history.
Sharing their love of bicycling, The Wheelmen members of around 1,100 members from 46 states, the District of Columbia, and 7 foreign countries enjoy all types of bicycles and cycling. Ownership of an antique bicycle is not required to become a member, just the interest in bicycles, bicycling, or cycling history. Most of our members are ready, willing, and able to share their knowledge of bicycles, bicycle history, period costumes, bicycle restoration, and riding skills with each other and the public.
This exchange of information usually takes place at our Annual Meets (conventions), which are held, in different locations each year. In the past we have met in places like Williamsburg, VA., Golden, CO., Mackinac Island, MI., Louisville, KY., Dover, DE., and Waterloo. Ontario, Canada.
These Meets include a Century ride, shorter pleasure rides, bicycle games, historic presentations, tours of local historic sites, and time to meet new friends. We also include social events like a Victorian Tea, ice cream social, picnic, or cruise. Our 2016 Meet will be held at Judson College in Elgin, Illinois.
Our State Captains organize group rides, parades, and other events for our members to display and demonstrate their bicycles, costumes, and riding skills in order to educate the public and add atmosphere to historic and festive occasions.
If you are interested in becoming a member, visit our
Membership web page or register here.
If you would like to arrange Wheelmen participation at your event, please visit our State Divisions web page and contact the appropriate State Captain for your State.
