Welcome To The World Of The Wheelmen!
We are a not-for-profit family oriented
organization dedicated to the enjoyment and preservation of our
bicycling heritage. Wheelmen members enjoy all kinds of bicycles and
bicycling. The Wheelmen do however have a special interest in the first
100 years of cycling, 1816-1916. Members enjoy sharing what they know
about bicycle history, period costumes, proper bicycle restoration, and
riding skills with each other and the public.
State Captains organize group rides, parades, and other events for the members
to display and demonstrate their bicycles, costumes and skills in order to educate
the public and add atmosphere to historic or festive occasions. Wheelmen Annual
Meets are held in different locations around the country. For the first time we
held our Annual Meet in Ontario, Canada in 2006. Annual Meets include Century rides
and pleasure rides, bicycle competitions and casual games, swap meets and social
events including teas, picnics and a formal banquet.
Personally, I get a kick out of finding an old, rusty bicycle begging for restoration.
Or just recently finding a dirt track at a county fairground that is still in use
where bicycle racers scorched around it in 1896. I hope you will enjoy finding
treasures like these little bits of history as much as I do.
We hope you will enjoy browsing our website. If you are interested in becoming a member, visit our
Membership web page

You need not own an antique bicycle to be a member!
If you would like to arrange Wheelmen participation at your event, please visit our
State Divisions web page
and contact the State Captain.
