The Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts promptly at 1:30 p.m. In case of the cancellation of the parade due to inclement weather, announcements will be on WTNH8, WPLR Radio Station 99.1 FM and Radio Station WELI 960 AM. Phone information will be available from: Courtney Lundgtrn Connors, Parade Chairman (Cell 860-343-3508) no later than 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2018.
2018 PARADE ORDERS
1. COMMAND: Having been appointed Grand Marshal for the 62st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the undersigned hereby assumes command. The command post/Information Booth is open at 12:00 P.M. March 11, 2018 at the intersection of Chapel Street/Derby Avenue (Blue Tent at Monitor Square). Parade Marshals will assist you with identifying your unit’s location and staging area.
2. STARTING POINT: The head of the parade steps off at 1:30 p.m. at Chapel Street & Sherman Avenue. All units and individuals participating must be in position, ready to move out, no later than the time indicated in bullet item #4. NOTE: If your unit arrives late for staging, your unit will be placed at the end of the parade (no exceptions).
3. PARADE ROUTE: East on Chapel Street to Church Street, North on Church Street to Grove Street, East on Grove Street to Orange Street where units are dispersed (Participant Parking Garage on State between Audubon/Trumbull Street).
4. ASSEMBLY AREAS – As assigned per following the marching unit line up and assembly time (not arrival time):
ESCORT DIVISION (ESC):
Grand Marshal, St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee: Upper Chapel Street, in the intersection with Sherman Ave - 1:00pm.
Elected Officials/Guests: Chapel Street in the vicinity of the intersection of Derby Avenue and Chapel Street - 1:00pm.
Sponsoring Irish Organizations: Upper Chapel Street, Winthrop Avenue to Ellsworth Avenue - 1:00pm.
FIRST DIVISION: Norton Street: North of Chapel Street, head resting on Chapel Street. - 1:00pm.
SECOND DIVISION: Norton Street: South of Chapel Street - 1:00pm*
THIRD DIVISION: Winthrop Avenue: North of Chapel Street head resting on Chapel Street -1:15pm*
FOURTH DIVISION: Sherman Avenue: North of Chapel Street, head resting on Chapel Street -1:30pm*
Fire Apparatus will assembly on Sherman Aveune, South of Chapel Street in order of their unit Division placement
*Special instructions: Buses transporting school children to their respective divisions are permitted to keep children on the bus on George Street for the 2nd Division, on Edgewood Avenue for the 3rd Division, and on Sherman Avenue for the 4th Division; until 1:00pm before discharging passengers.
